Elafonisi Beach Tour

Discover the breathtaking beauty of Elafonisi, situated 76 km from Chania at the southwesternmost tip of Crete. This elongated peninsula, often divided into two parts by water, is a Natura 2000 protected area rich in sand dunes and rare plants and animals. On either side of the peninsula, you’ll find exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise waters, reminiscent of the Caribbean. In some areas, the sand takes on a pink hue due to crushed shells. On days when the water is low, you can walk to the peak of the peninsula. On the right-hand side, you’ll often find enthusiasts engaging in wind and water sports. Near the peninsula’s breaking point, the sea water is shallow, not exceeding 1 meter in depth, creating a small lagoon perfect for children.

Balos lagoon & Gramvousa Island

Experience one of the most breathtaking beaches in the world on a Balos day trip. Begin your adventure with a day’s cruise from the port of Kissamos to the island of Gramvousa and the stunning Balos Lagoon. The journey includes sailing through a huge cave, believed to have been the ancient shipyard of “Tarsanas”. At the end of the Gulf, you’ll witness an impressive geological phenomenon where the western part of the island rises while the eastern part sinks, a result of catastrophic earthquakes in 66 BC and 365 BC. This phenomenon continues today, albeit at a much slower rate.

Your first stop is Gramvousa, home to an eminent castle built by the Venetians in 1579 at the highest point of the island, perched on a steep rock 137 meters high. The panoramic view, the majesty of the castle, and the legend of the pirate’s hidden treasure will entice you to explore it. The second stop on your Balos day trip is the magnificent Balos Lagoon. Here, you can perfect your summer tan and unwind before heading back to your hostel, concluding this all-day tour with relaxation and stunning memories.

SEITAN LIMANIA BEACH TOUR

Seitan Limania is situated on the east side of the Akrotiri Peninsula, nestled within a canyon surrounded by steep hills and sparse vegetation. Conveniently located near the airport, the beach starts with small pebbles, transitioning to sand as you approach the waters. Despite its size and remote location, Seitan Limania has become a popular destination for both locals and tourists due to its stunning scenery. Before the turn of the century, it was known only to a few locals, but once discovered, its pristine beauty and captivating mystique began attracting numerous visitors every year.

This small, unorganized beach has an intriguing history, having witnessed the growth of many cultures, from the Minoans to the Venetians and the Ottomans. Under Ottoman rule, Seitan Limania served as a naval base and port, given its connection to nearby bays and the Sea of Crete. However, the beach features a strong current as you venture deeper, and the steep mountainsides make the area hazardous for naval operations. Due to these challenging conditions, the Ottomans named it Devil’s Harbor—’Seitan’ meaning ‘devil’ in Turkish, and ‘limani’ being the Greek word for harbor.

For those planning a Seitan Limania transfer, this beach promises an experience straight out of a painting, combining natural beauty with a rich historical backdrop. However, be cautious, as the descent to the beach is demanding and requires careful navigation.

PREVELI BEACH TOUR

The area of Preveli, home to the island’s second largest palm tree forest, attracts thousands of visitors each summer. The palm trees of Theophrastus grow along the banks of the Great River, also known as Preveli River, which flows year-round. As the river widens near the sea, it forms Lake Preveli.

Historically a favorite destination for hippies, Preveli is now protected for its unique flora and fauna under the Natura 2000 program. Despite a devastating fire in 2010, the palm trees made a remarkable recovery within a year, thanks to their slow-burning nature and the river’s aid.

An interesting story about the palm trees’ origin involves migrating birds carrying seeds from Europe to Africa. Visitors can explore paths along the river, swim in its waters, and enjoy the serene scenery under the shade of the resilient palm trees.
